Our History and Focus:
REAP began services under the sponsorship of Raleigh Community Hospital
in January, 1985. REAP incorporated as an
independent, woman-owned business in 1994. Services span a diverse panel
of private and public employer groups including health care, media,
local government, public schools, manufacturing, and research and
development firms.
REAP is an independent EAP specialty firm, with no conflict of interest
about providing ongoing private therapy. REAP has no direct affiliation with any medical or
insurance groups. The focus is on supporting employers who want the
benefits and value of a strong face-to-face EAP specialist, with a
priority on prompt access and establishing ongoing business partner
relationships.
REAP takes pride in serving our community with flexibility which allows
cost-effective access for many smaller local groups including
non-profits and emerging businesses in the Triangle and surrounding
areas of North Carolina. See Other
Consulting and Training.
We
value diversity and are developing a network of community resources and
bilingual professionals helpful to the increasing number of
Latino/Hispanic employees in our area. REAP counselors may use an
interpreter if needed to assist employees or their families
who have English as a second language. See Información
en español.
REAP concentrates on service to primarily locally based
employers--but this includes many employers who also have employees
geographically dispersed across the U.S.
We accomplish the
same standard for face-to-face services through an established network
of proven high quality affiliates.
Our Staff:
Karen
Untz,
President and Owner, has guided the development of REAP since its start
with Raleigh Community Hospital in January, 1985. In April, 1994,
she assumed ownership of REAP as a private corporation.
Karen completed her master’s program in counseling with an emphasis in
training and development at North Carolina State University in 1992.
Karen is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a nationally certified (CEAP) and NC
Licensed Employee Assistance Professional (LEAP), and an experienced substance
abuse specialist who meets the federal DOT/SAP requirements. She
currently continues her education by studying Spanish language and
cultural dynamics.
* The REAP team includes dedicated professionals
and a national network of trusted affiliates. The
additional staff counselors at REAP have training at
the master’s level in a variety of disciplines and backgrounds.
Usually, either male or female counselors are available.
Also, first
time callers to REAP frequently comment on the highly personal and
understanding approach of our full time Office Manager who helps them promptly with
appointments and services. Employees and supervisors or
Human Resource liaisons receive strong response on all calls with urgent
or critical needs. See Contact Us.
